Lawn & Garden Care Checklist
Now that spring is here, you’re probably itching to get started on making your lawn and garden look as dazzling as possible. You’ll want to ensure that your garden is ready for growing seeds and that your grass is healthy and in good condition. Here is a helpful list of tasks to complete to keep both your lawn and garden healthy and flourishing.
1. Get a Rain Barrel
Want to reduce your municipal water usage without letting your grass or seedlings dry up? Get a rain barrel that will help you collect rainwater for use in your yard and garden. A half-inch of rainfall is all it takes to fill up a 50-gallon barrel!
2. Dig Up Weeds
One of the biggest issues that gardeners face is weed overgrowth. Letting weeds fester in your yard or garden can kill your grass and plants by sucking up all the sunlight, water, and nutrients they would otherwise receive. Make sure you’re weeding your lawn on a regular basis to keep them at bay, and dig up the entire root of each weed. An hour or so a week will do wonders to prevent weeds from taking over.
3. Apply Mulch
Your plants need plenty of nutrients to stay healthy, so apply a few inches of mulch to your beds to give them those nutrients and cut down on weed growth. Wait for the soil to be warm and dry so that you aren’t trapping moisture or cold that can kill your plants.
