Inspecting Your Agricultural Equipment
In order to ensure that you can safely operate your farm equipment and get the most usage out of it each day, you need to perform regular inspections on it. More intensive inspections should take place every few months to check for and repair major issues, but you should also inspect each piece of agricultural equipment before each use. Here are the things you’ll want to look for when performing these inspections.
Engine
Lift up the hood and check the engine of your piece of agricultural equipment. Make sure that the oil is clean and topped off and that there’s plenty of fuel. Inspect belts and hoses and look for any debris that needs to be removed.
Tires
Use a tire-pressure gauge to check the pressure of each of your equipment’s tires. Air them up according to the psi levels specified in your owner’s manual. Also, look over each tire for signs of wear or embedded objects.
Cab
Finally, climb into the cab of your agricultural equipment and make sure that everything is in order. Test out lights and signals and make sure everything is operating properly. The cab should also be clean and free of debris and obstructions. Check fluid levels and adjust your mirrors as well so you have clear visibility.
