How to Clean Your UTV
You rely on your utility terrain vehicle (UTV) to carry you through the elements. Along the way, however, your UTV is going to pick up plenty of dirt and mud. Properly cleaning your UTV is important to protect it and ensure its longevity.
At Manor Home Center, we want to help you enjoy your UTV as long as possible. That's why we've provided some key tips to clean it properly. For more information, visit our location in Oakland, Maryland, serving Garrett County.
What Products to Use
The most integral part of cleaning your UTV is choosing the right soap. It is important to pick a soap that will not damage the exterior. For example, dish soap may cause marks or streaks when it reacts with mud. Choose a soap that will not harm the UTV's exterior, but will handle the dirt and mud. A degreaser can also help remove tougher grime before applying soap.
Remove the Mud
If your UTV looks like it was dipped in mud, it will take some extra effort to get it clean. In this case, your first step should be to use a pressure washer or a hose with a strong attachment to rinse off dirt and mud. Sometimes, it may be necessary to scrape off larger pieces of mud that the pressure washer doesn't remove.
Soap and Soak
Once you have removed most of the mud, put the soap to work by mixing it with water and scrubbing down your UTV with a microfiber cloth or washing mitt. It's a good idea to let the soap and water soak for a few minutes to make the mud easier to remove.
Rinse and Dry
After soaking, it is time to rinse. Be careful of the electronics and air intake when you do. Lastly, dry off the UTV with a towel or leaf blower.
Detail
Once the UTV is dry, it is a good idea to apply some protectant. You can apply any detailing products at this point, too. For instance, there are detailing products to brighten up faded plastics. Then, wipe down the seats and interior, wipe the windshield and clean the engine bay to remove any extra mud.
Our team is happy to help you in the process and help you find the products you need. To learn more about UTVs from Manor Home Center, visit our location in Oakland, Maryland, serving Garrett County.
